Ghana; Sierra Leone, The Governance and Accountability Learning Initiative II (GALI II): The initiative aims to integrate accountability into programme management in Ghana and Sierra Leone, through developing, piloting and institutionalising innovative tools and mechanisms for accountability towards CARE’s primary stakeholders. The main strategies used are staff capacity building, piloting tools in existing projects and learning & exchange events. Project teams will receive external support from the CIUK Governance Team and Keystone Accountability. In broad terms, the initiative has the following two targets: (1) use learning in these COs to influence the development and framing of the CARE International Accountability framework (methodologies, tools, etc.); and (2) provide a learning field on approaches and tools for integrating accountability into programme management. More specifically, this initiative will focus on integrating the voice of impact groups, beneficiaries, partners and stakeholders on CARE performance and work this into CARE Ghana and CARE Sierra Leone's programme performance review processes and reporting systems.
In Rwanda, CARE is using a management score card to provide a formal avenue for gathering and responding to staff feedback on management decisions (performance quality) on set priorities and directions for the country programme.
