CARE has been a regional leader in promoting social accountability. CARE International in Egypt, in particular, has been a prominent player in the region in providing training to civil society organizations and also in designing and tailoring tools to national contexts.

Most notably, in October 2010, CARE International in Egypt, in cooperation with the World Bank, organized the first regional workshop on social accountability, and between 2012 and 2016 it hosted the arab_network_for_social_accountability (ANSA Arab World).
