Various bilateral and multilateral donors support governance programming:
DFID has a broad portfolio of work focused on governance and social development issues, including political economy analysis, service delivery and social accountability.
Europe Aid has a substantial portfolio of work in governance and human rights, including work on governance, human rights and democracy, civil society and local authorities, security and conflict, migration and asylum.
SIDA has a particular focus on democracy, human rights and equality and peace and security work.
USAID has the largest portfolio of governance-related programme of any bilateral donor, however a substantial proportion of this work and their budget allocation is related to peace and security.
The World Bank has a lending arm which supports a series of governance-relating programming, with particular emphasis on social accountability.
